According to Vedic Jyotish we consider the north and south node of Moon Rahu and Ketu as Graha along with the other 7 Grahas. The Sun is basically a star that we have learnt in science is also considered as Graha and even the natural satellite of Earth that is Moon is also considered as graha and even the nonexistent shadow planet as we know in case of both and south node of Moon the Rahu and Ketu ..because…Grahas are nothing but the celestial bodies that have influence on the human fate and destiny.
So in that chronology in Vedic Jyotish, we have 9 Grahas. Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu, Ketu. In ancient shastra like Narada Samhita, Surya Siddhanta the mention of the Grahas are vivid. Vedic Jyotish is the vedanga one part of it is taken from Rig Veda and the other part from Yajurveda. The Eye of Veda is Jyotish, cause Vedic rituals and homas are dependent on specific time and the time which will be suitable is only mentioned in Jyotish Shastra. Jyotish is a part of apara vidya and the mention of specific time is depending on the movement of the celestial bodies or the Grahas. That’s how the Grahas or the celestial bodies has a great influence on human life and fate.
